by W. T. Howes

We woke up to a white Christmas this morning, which reminded me of the American classic “White Christmas” starring Bing Crosby.  Enjoy the finale:

Christmas Eve 40 years ago:  Frank Borman’s Christmas Message from Apollo 8

by TheTruthSquad

Apollo 8 was the first space vehicle to leave Earth’s orbit and orbit the Moon.  It was December 1968, and America was still reaching for the stars, and was not afraid to broadcast a Bible passage on national television.  It was an America that said “Merry Christmas” or “Happy Chanukah” instead of the generic “Happy Holidays”.  On December 24, 1968, Apollo 8 Mission Commander Frank Borman greeted his fellow men and women with a Christmas message and reading from the book of Genesis.  Enjoy the You Tube of Col Borman’s message.

Attaboy Saxby!  GOP Winning Streak Continues

by W. T. Howes

imageIt looks like Governor Palin’s trip to Georgia was worth the effort.  The first major vote since the re-election of Senator Saxby Chambliss was Friday’s vote in the United States Senate to invoke cloture and move the automaker “bailout” for a vote before the full Senate.  To pass, there must be sixty votes in favor of a motion to invoke cloture.  In this case, the cloture motion failed 52-35.  Senator Chambliss was one of the courageous Republicans who voted “no”.  The current version of the “bailout” bill failed - at least for now.  With the election of Chambliss and two Congressmen in special elections in Louisiana, and now the stopping of this bill, the Republicans have put together a little winning streak.
